There ought to be a law...

...against pious twats using disasters, natural or man-made, as a sign that God is pissed at us. They really should be slapped with a penalty. Blaming people for not following religion as explanation of tragedy. If the lottery commission blamed all of those who didn't buy a ticket for the bush fires in Victoria, Australia then they'd be reprimanded. But some zealot with a "mission" says it's Victoria's lenient abortion laws that's displeased the Almighty and he's allowed Satan to reign fire upon them, he just gets a small condemnation from an otherwise supporter. I say fine him and fine him deep.

"God's protection has been taken off the state, and Satan is having a go at the nation," Mr Nalliah, senior pastor of Catch the Fire Ministries, told The Age.

Article here.

Anyone else a bit icked out over the irony of "Catch The Fire Ministries"? OH - I found the original posting on their CTFM website, where Danny tells us he had a dream predicting the fires. Of course he did. He's obviously one of those rank evangelist charlatans.

Here's hoping Victoria has an equal balancing atheist groups as starting one myself seems like such hard work.

What gets me is that these religious zealots say this EVERY SINGLE TIME something bad happens. What do they say when it happens in their churches? Then they magically keep their mouths shut. Self-righteous fuckers.

I hate religion.

Yes, he has the luxury of not having the fires baring down on his church (I assume). Wonder what the churchgoers in Kinglake think of his comments.

Self righteous pricks full of hatemongering. Is it any wonder I despise fanatics and organized religion in a general?

We heard the same kind of shit when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans "New Orleans was punished because it's a wild town with lots of sin..."

What a dickhead. And yes, I caught the irony.

Yeah, we heard the same thing over here after 9/11. The nutbags.

If God really wanted to punish us all, I'm sure He could come up with something more creative than a brush fire. It's people like this that give people of faith a bad name.

By their logic, God doesn't strike us down nearly enough. People are doing horrible things 24/7.

And how do they know which bad action it is we're being punished for??

Dart board, crystal ball?

Religious fanatics scare the crap out of me.

Maybe God is pissed at that minister for following the wrong flavour of Christianity...should've tried Mormonism.

The zealots attacked the telletubbies, nothing is sacred.
I wonder if they ever consider that maybe it is not their god that is vengeful, maybe instead it's the devil cashing in his chips.
